ACC vs the Official Codex Plugin for Claude Code
Choose between calling Codex inside Claude Code and connecting independent coding sessions across clients through ACC.

Use the official Codex plugin when you want to invoke Codex from a Claude Code workflow. Consider ACC when you want separately opened coding sessions to communicate, including sessions in clients beyond that pair.
What the official plugin documents#
OpenAI's Codex plugin for Claude Code documents ordinary and adversarial reviews, task delegation, session transfer, and background-job controls. It operates from within Claude Code and uses Codex provider access.
ACC gives an independently opened recipient an address in a local peer workspace. The sender can ask that peer a question or request a review, and either side can initiate another exchange under its own instructions.
| Your goal | Start by evaluating |
|---|---|
| Ask Codex to review your current Claude Code change | The official plugin's review workflow. |
| Delegate a task to Codex from Claude Code | The official plugin's delegation workflow. |
| Ask a Codex session you already opened to discuss an interface | ACC's independent-session workflow. |
| Let an Antigravity or Kimi session participate too | ACC's client-specific integrations and receiving modes. |
| Connect only your Claude Code sessions | Claude Code's native messaging first. |
Plugin transfer imports a Claude Code conversation into a persistent Codex thread. An ACC handoff carries an explicit work summary and artifact references.
Consider the receiver you intend to keep#
Suppose you already have a Codex service session and a Claude Code interface session, each with its own current context. The interface needs an answer from that service owner.
With ACC, the interface agent selects the appropriate participant and sends a focused request. The service agent answers in its existing client. That preserves the relationship you chose between the two sessions.
If you instead want the current Claude session to initiate new Codex work, evaluate the official plugin on that workflow directly.
Verify the result rather than the invocation#
For a review, identify the exact revision, keep the target stable, and require reproducible findings or an explicit no-findings verdict.
For an ACC exchange, also establish when the receiving client can act: next turn, explicit inbox retrieval, or eligible experimental live delivery. The shared name “Codex” does not make CLI daemon delivery available to every desktop chat.
A message accepted by a transport is not a completed review. A second model's opinion is still something to verify.
Choose the next guide#
Use independent review for a request and verdict between sessions you already run. Use handoff after a limit for explicit continuation context.
